Bamburgh Research Project
“Bringing the past to life for everyone”
Funding, encouragement and intellectual support has come to us from many institutions and individuals. The money for the 1999 season for the Bowl Hole excavations came in the form of a grant from The Society of Antiquaries of Newcastle upon Tyne. We have many to thank at Northumberland County Council for their continued assistance. Thanks also go to the Conservation Team and the Coastal Team who have provided many a timely grant of funds, as well as encouragement and assistance. The RCAHMS has kindly made documents and artifacts available to us, without which the Hope-Taylor investigations would never have been possible.
The assistance of the Castle custodians and staff has been invaluable over the years and is much appreciated by the Project. We also owe much to the generosity of the people of Bamburgh Village, who have welcomed us each year and contributed much to our work. We are deeply indebted the Armstrong family, whose generosity, support and encouragement allowed the project to be set up initially. The continuation of the Project is only made possible by the incredible generosity of people too numerous to mention by name, but our thanks remain undiminished.
A final word of thanks to the late George Dunn. He was not only a true gentleman, but also a great friend of the Bamburgh Research Project.
